Juicy Flat Top Ostrich Cheeseburgers

juicy ostrich cheeseburger

Say goodbye to dried out burgers with the help of a flat top. Using a griddle in lieu of a grill to cook up our ostrich patties preserves as much moisture and flavor as possible, resulting in a seriously satisfying burger. Plus, this recipe puts dinner on the table in less than 10 minutes. You can't beat that!

Note:  Ostrich is a red meat, and like beef, is safe to eat at lower internal temperatures than poultry.  Our Chef recommends preparing ostrich burgers medium rare (120-125 °F), or medium (130-135 °F).

Ingredients

1 package ostrich burger patties
1 1/2 tbsp butter, softened
Aged gouda, sliced, or other sliced cheese
Burger buns

Recommended Toppings

Lettuce
Tomato, sliced
Red onion, sliced
Avocado, sliced
Pickles
Mayonnaise

Preparation

Preheat an electric griddle to 350 °F, or place a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Remove thawed patties from the package and gently pat dry with paper towels.

Add 1 tbsp butter to the griddle.  When the butter has melted, add patties.

Cook 3 minutes and flip each patty. Cook for another 2 minutes.

Flip once more and continue cooking until the patties begin to release clear juices (total cook time is approximately 6 minutes for medium).  Add a slice of cheese to each patty, allowing it to melt. Set patties aside.

Butter burger buns "coast to coast" with 1/2 tbsp butter.  Place them buttered side down on the griddle until lightly toasted.

Build your cheeseburgers, dress with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
